Shirley Crace Hughes is a fiction writer. She is employed at Indiana University in Bloomington and writes part-time. This is her first real life adventure book.

Shirley and her husband, Richard, and their golden shepherd, Nikki, lived aboard their Sundowner Tug for four years.

By way of returning to Indiana from Midcoast Maine, they cruised part of the East Coast, Hudson River, New York Barge Canal, Trent-Severn Waterway, Georgian Bay, North Chanel and Lakes Ontario, Huron and Michigan.

They also traveled extensively on the Illinois, Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. They cruised the entire Tennessee and Little Tennessee Rivers and the Cumberland. They transited the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway several times, as well as part of the Intracoastal Waterway along the Florida panhandle.
